How do you deliver an amazing on-river education adventure for 10,000 students each year in just a three-month window of Alberta ice-free weather? That should be impossible! Since 1995, the RiverWatch Institute of Alberta has boldly gone where no one has dared before, and does it bare-bones with just three fulltime staff; thirty-two seasonal staff; a stellar nine-member board of directors; partnerships with corporations, governments and municipal departments; and an annual operating budget of $600,000. All these resources come to bare on delivering our mission “to advance education by organizing and delivering programs, projects, science curriculum supplements, field studies and tours that assist teachers, students and others in the study of the environment.” RiverWatch extends a big thank you to people just like you for supporting watershed science and wastewater studies with more than 120,000 students during our 23-years of operation. It's aptly said that it takes a whole village to raise a child!
