The CFRN Good Neighbour Fund Society was established in 1992 by CFRN TV. Our service area mirrors the station`s historic broadcast region that covers Edmonton and the surrounding area, extending south to Red Deer and north to Fort McMurray and from Rocky Mountain House east to the Saskatchewan border.
The Good Neighbour Fund is very unique and provides a service that is otherwise non-existent. We provide FINANCIAL help. And there is no set list of items or service the CTV Good Neighbour Fund provides. In the past, the Fund has provided for the deaf and blind, provided wheelchairs, orthopaedic shoes, clothing, furniture, food, school books and paid medical and dental bills. We also partner with others to help pay for hard to fund items like wheelchair lifts and other supports that can really improve the quality of life for someone. We support families and individuals that are sustainable, but need help to move forward. Our goal is that with our help, the recipients of funding from the GNF will get back on their feet and move forward again.
The CTV Good Neighbour Fund was established to help in an efficient, effective way and does this through extremely low overhead costs. The Fund does not receive, or seek, any government funding. It depends instead on the generosity of many donors and on an annual fundraising luncheon held each November.
