"For the past 40 years, Lunchbox Theatre has played a unique and important role within the Calgary arts community by creating, producing and disseminating original one-act plays, with a focus on new Canadian works. We want to take our audiences to new places by exploring socially relevant issues in a contemporary context. The culture in Calgary is growing and we are happy to contribute by providing a place for people to experience professional live theatre. At Lunchbox we believe that theatre has the ability to energize the city, while reinforcing a sense of strong cultural appreciation and community. Lunchbox Theatre is a part of Calgary’s past, and with your help we can continue its success in the future."

About This Cause

As a not-for profit theatre, we rely on Calgarian’s generosity in providing sponsorships and private donations, without which we wouldn’t exist. The patrons of Lunchbox Theatre have told us that affordable ticket prices are deeply important to them, and for the past 40 years we have worked very hard to maintain the most reasonable prices in town. As a result our ticket sales only account for approximately 30% of our budget.

With changing government funding structures, we need to raise 40% of our budget privately – over $350,000 each year.

Where Does Your Money Go?
Your donations go towards much of what allows us to share amazing stories through live theatre, including:
• The production of 8 shows per season many of them are World Premieres. From costumes to lighting, your generosity allows us to create extraordinary shows.
• The ability for us to provide a place where many talented new artists (over 100 per season) get their start, as well as a home for other arts and cultural groups in the city.

By choosing to support Lunchbox Theatre you are choosing to support the broader arts community in the city of Calgary.
